‘America’s Next Top Model’ Casting Call

“America’s Next Top Model” came to town today hosted by CWTV Paul Wharton at Potomac Mills Mall looking for the next top model. Contestants had to be 5’7” or taller and between ages 18 to 25. Hundreds of young ladies came out trying to be America’s next top model.

High Country Basketry Guild

The ladies from the High Country Basketry Guild, of Annandale, Va., came by the Chinn Center to show off their wares. They will also be back on Oct. 4 to teach others how to make what I thought were very lovely baskets. You can contact the Chinn Center for more information. In last photo from left to right are Claudia Warsawski who runs the group and has been doing this for about 12 years; Katherine Fox, who has been doing this for about 10 years; Gloria Burgess,who has been doing this since 1990.

What was it like to be a slave on a ship? You could load the family up and take them on a tour of the Middle Passage at the Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, Md. The museum also offers an expansive look at black history. Below is only a small sample of what the museum offers. I think everyone should visit it once, but there some parts you make not want to take the little ones into.

Jason T. Westerfield came to The Blessing Place, a little church in Wilmington, Del., this weekend, but he brought a big message. Gas prices are on the rise again,Back in November when I visited these stores, Wawa prices where 2.89reg 3.05plus 3.15prem. The Shell was 2.95reg 3.13plus 3.21prem, well take a look at them now.

For Black History Month, I wanted to showcase some of the black people who I have had the opportunity to meet and photograph. From the victims of Hurricane Katrina to civil rights leaders and protesters to a young couple on their wedding day and to kids who represent our future, I thought these photos and the music by Tonex fit well together. Famine Watch

First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City is doing a 30 Hour Famine Feb. 22-23 to raise awareness about worldwide hunger. They asked people to donate old shoes to show the massive number of people who don’t have food to eat.

Snow at Nova
